Perry is Perry is a Chicago native who was she was born into Laurie Metcalf and Jeff Perry. Her first television roles were two appearances on the show as Jackie Harris (as seen in flashback) on The ABC sitcom Roseanne which was played by her mother. She did not pursue acting as a career until after she had reached the age of adulthood due to her parents being concerned about the adverse consequences stress can be a cause of. Perry claims she never wanted to be an actor in highschool but decided to start playing as a way to make friends while at Northwestern University when she switched from Boston University. Perry following her graduation from Boston University, relocated into New York in search of TV roles. Her small part was on TV shows like Law & Order: Criminal Intent. However, homesickness drove her to California in search of theater jobs. The Other Place was performed by her and her mother on Broadway in 2013 Perry was in the show with the father of her character Kevin McKidd and Eugene O'Neill's Pulitzer Prize winning drama Anna Christie in the year 2015 in The Odyssey Theatre Ensemble, West Los Angeles. Perry appeared in nine episodes of The Family, an ABC drama The Family in 2016. In 2017, she had a minor role on ABC's thriller about politics Scandal which starred her father. In the same year, she portrayed a child model of Mary Cooper on Young Sheldon (a CBS spinoff The Big Bang Theory) as her mother as a young version. She was cast in the role by auditioning for an open role despite having a connection to the character.
