Silk is a Canadian born academic. Silk was born in Fredericton. Ilkay is the daughter of Peter, an educator and an accomplished actress and playwright. Peter was educated at St. Thomas University. Anna remembers her mother working as a play director and also attending rehearsals. Silk was a part of a variety of commercials where she was featured as a child. She earned a Bachelors in Arts from St. Thomas University. Theatre St. Thomas staged two plays in the early years: Seven Menus & The Kitchen. Silk made the move to Toronto to pursue her acting profession in November 1999. She later, in the decade that followed, she relocated in the following decade to Los Angeles, California. Seth Cooperman was her future spouse when she first met him in 2007 in an actor's workshop in Los Angeles. They got married in 2009 and were they were married at the civil ceremony on December of that year. In Fredericton on the 10th April of 2011 following her change to Judaism they exchanged vows in the Jewish wedding ceremony.
